An eight year old girl was injured in a freak accident when hit by a hang glider in a remote part of Lancashire. Conditions were very difficult (see photograph) on Parlick fell in the Forest of Bowland and two helicopters combined to undertake a rescue.

North West Air Ambulance landed near the scene and paramedics stabilised the patient who had a head injury and was unable to move. The search and rescue helicopter then winched the young girl and her father and transported her to the Royal Preston Hospital.
I was at the scene of this incident, the whole operation was exceptioinally well co-ordinated by both the Air Ambulance and the RAF Search & Rescue. Makes you proud to be British when you know you can depend on services like these when you need them most.
